Don't Give Up

During LifePilot workshops, I like to ask participants to guess who the following person is. See if you can figure it out:

He had to work to support his family after they were forced out of their home.

His mother died.

He failed in business.

He was defeated for the legislature.

He lost his job and couldn’t get into law school.

He declared bankruptcy, and spent the next 17 years of his life paying off the money.

He borrowed from friends to start his business.

He was defeated for the legislature again.

His fiancé died and his heart was broken.

He had a nervous breakdown and spent the next six months in bed.

He was defeated in becoming the speaker of the state legislature.

He was defeated in becoming an elector.

He was defeated for Congress.

He was defeated for Congress again.

He was defeated for Congress yet again.

He was rejected for a job.

He was defeated for Senate.

He was defeated for Vice-President and got less than 100 votes.

He was defeated for Senate again.

He was elected President of the United States.

Most people find it hard to believe that this long saga of so-called failures is actually the blow-by-blow account of the life of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States.
