Do You Doubt Your Ability?

When you doubt your ability to achieve a goal, you dramatically lower the odds of reaching it. First, check to see if the goal is truly realistic. If you have trouble deciding, seek the advice of trusted friends, mentors or experts.

When you doubt your abilities, try using my favorite motto, “It’s easy; it’s a piece of cake.” There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t remind myself of this sentence. For some reason, this helps me accomplish things I cannot normally imagine myself doing. For instance, I travel a lot and always want to be connected. I have my computer and my Treo 600. It can be challenging to get all of this technology working at once. “Piece of cake,” I tell myself, and quite often I’m able to repair my own problems. In fact, I may be getting too good at it — my wife now refers to me as her computer guy.
