WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT PETER H. THOMAS |
|
As the following comments from our workshop participants show, the workshops have been overwhelmingly positive, life altering experiences. The comments are grouped in three categories:
Academia, Business, Personal
Academia category:
Leanne Atwater Dean, ASU's School of Global Management and Leadership, Arizona State University
Dear Peter,
Please accept my sincere thanks for the Lifepilot program you delivered to students and faculty yesterday at ASU's School of Global Management and Leadership. As the dean in the college, I was truly amazed that at my advanced age (52) I clearly did not have my values, goals and behaviors in alignment. The workshop opened my eyes and will affect my career and life decisions as I move forward. I wish everyone could have this experience, perhaps once a decade beginning at 20 to remind them of their true priorities. Again, thank you for an enlightening and inspiring day and for the opportunity to make your acquaintance. I hope we can continue to work together in the future to expose more young people to the truly amazing benefits to be had by establishing their life plan.
On another note, I would like to provide a suggestion that stems from my research on self-perception accuracy. As part of the reflection exercise, you point out that self-awareness is the cornerstone of emotional intelligence. I agree completely. However, when we identify our own qualities, we often don't see ourselves the way we are seen by others. I think it would be very useful if the qualities page were reproduced in the life manual and the lifepilot participant was given the opportunity to describe what he or she believes are his or her qualities and then take the blank page and ask a meaningful person (perhaps a mentor) to do the same. A comparison of the lists would give the person an indication if they are being perceived by others the way they see themselves. (They may even want to Xerox the blank page and give it to more than one person for comparison). Our research suggests that those who have the highest agreement between how they see themselves and how they are seen by others are most effective in many walks of life. Those who overestimate their positive qualities are least effective.
Again, thank you very much for sharing the lifepilot experience with me and my students and for the signed book that I will finish reading and pass along to my children. I will stay in touch.
Sincerely,
November 6. 2005
Jennifer Gill Experiential Learning Officer, Faculty of Business, Victoria, B.C.
\"I want to extend a sincere thanks to LifePilot for once again providing our students with a fantastic opportunity to reflect on where they\'ve been personally and professionally, and where they\'re headed. LifePilot is a valuable tool for our international and entrepreneurial students, allowing them to clearly articulate their values in light of their upcoming transition into careers as business leaders. I would highly recommend this experience, not only to other business students, but to anyone wishing to reevaluate their life compass.\"
Omar Al-Hajjar , Vancouver, B.C.
Hi Peter.
Just wanted to send you a quick note about my fantastic experience with LifePilot and the rewarding mentorship with Mike Desjardins. You came to my university (UBC) in August of 2005 and I got the chance to take the LifePilot workshop.
At the end of the session, I was paired up with Mike and we continued meeting once a month for about 8 months after the workshop.
The mentorship with Mike and seeing how he’s successfully used LifePilot to become successful was very motivating. Being able to bounce ideas off of him and see how he’s applied LifePilot in his life and business really crystallized the magnificent results that goal setting can accomplish.
LifePilot and the mentorship have already greatly impacted my life – personally and professionally. It is exactly the type of program that needs to be taught in today’s business schools.
Thanks again Peter and hope to catch you next time you’re doing another LifePilot seminar in Vancouver.
Ali Dastmalchian Dean and Professor, Faculty of Business, Victoria, B.C.
"Thank you and David Aisenstat of the Keg Spirit Foundation for presenting your LifePilot workshop to students of the Entrepreneurship Program at University of Victoria Faculty of Business. Your workshop supports our vision to be an internationally recognized leader in business education. We appreciate your dedication to give back to the community and to give of yourself in sharing the lessons learned in your highly successful and exemplary business
career! I would also particularly like to thank the Young Entrepreneurs Organization members of the Victoria chapter without whose participation, the success of the LifePilot Workshop
would not have been possible.
My colleagues and I are especially excited about the mentor component that was incorporated into the LifePilot workshop program in September. Linking our students one-on-one to members of a team of successful entrepreneurs in the local community is an incredible
opportunity for our students to learn about entrepreneurship first hand. What a powerful catalyst to build our future business leaders! We are all excited to see the results of the mentoring program as the mentors continue to support our students in their journey of entrepreneurial studies throughout the year. We look forward to future LifePilot workshops at our University. We believe it will be an
inspiration to our students and a benefit to the University of Victoria. I imagine students will be competing vigorously to get into the next LifePilot workshop!"
John T Ferguson World Presidents Organization member FCA , LLD (Hon) Chancellor, University of Alberta, Calgary, Alberta
“Peter is a unique, uplifting personality. He has put his life-long learning experiences into enhancing the lives of others.
LifePilot is a very worthwhile workshop allowing personal time to re-visit ones values and to journey through one's own life.”
Chris Hasek-Watt
Lifepilot has been a life altering experience. I was privileged to be linked
with Mike Desjardins, who has inspired me in many ways. Mike has been both a
friend and a mentor. He has been very supportive and generous, as well as
helped me commit to specific goals and build strategies to achieve them. His
kindness is not overlooked and I appreciate it immensely.
Lifepilot has allowed me to acknowledge the benefits attributed to goal setting.
It has permitted me to self reflect and align goals with my values. Further,
it has allowed me to stay on track and focus on what is important to me.
Because of Lifepilot I feel more focused and driven, and am confident that I am
moving in the right direction.
I would without a doubt recommend Lifepilot to anyone. It has given me a strong
belief that I can turn dreams into reality.

Since talking to you, I've realized there was more to life than just randomly living through it and letting life "happen to you". In particular I started to give myself goals and commitments I can't easily back out of, knowing that's the key for getting things done. I've since finished a year term for the role of co-president for a 100+ member strong entrepreneurial club. Taking your lead, I've also taken part in a charity to raise money for Easter Seals Canada, an organization devoted to kids with mental and physical disabilities. The charity event was called the drop zone, where you rappel down a 16th floor building (which is a bit of a challenge for me, since I really dislike heights). And since you had to raise 1000$ to be at the charity event, it really gave me incentive succeed. I've also recently graduated from my Masters in Science, and just getting back into the job market mentality again.
All in all, a very good year for me. :)
Thanks again for all you've done for me, and I hope that your own charity dear to your heart is doing great as well. Let me know how I can be of service to repay you.
Sincerly,
Yi-Jeng Huang

"Many thanks for spending an amazing 4 hours with our Forum group in Toronto. For me, the timeliness of LifePilot was supreme. I am at a stage where I have moved from a corporate career of 30 years to a second career in academia. This coincides with marriage to the same partner for 35 years and the resulting gratitude for all the blessings in my life from a family, marriage and security point of view. As an individual and as partners in our relationship, many thoughts now turn to the next chapter in my and our lives and LifePilot is going to be a valuable resource to assist in giving some process and discipline to optimize the planning for the next stage of living. The set of "dials" around values, focus, visualization, inspiration and reflection all serve to holistically envision an existing and enriching future. I'm visualizing myself at 80 and working back from there and like what I see! Many thanks for an inspirational day."
Brian M. Lee Counsellor / Coach, St. George's School, Vancouver, B.C.
"In January 2004 the St. George's School varsity basketball team took full advantage of an opportunity to participate in your Life Pilot Workshop. The afternoon exceeded all expectations, as it went far beyond the typical leadership seminar module by challenging the boys to identify with their core value systems. Through engaging self-analysis and reflective exercises, the boys were taught how to align their values with their future goals and aspirations. As both a school counsellor and a basketball coach, I have worked with these individuals on many different levels and I have yet to see any of them this keen on working towards their future achievements and personal growth. What is most impressive is the fact that these 16 and 17-year-old boys are now thinking about their future ambitions in accordance with their families and friends. Thank you for providing such a wonderful program for our students, for it will serve them well as they endeavor to work towards a balanced life. Life Pilot deserves full commendation and recognition."
Ronald K. Mitchell PH.D.,Professor, Head UVic Entrepreneurship Program, Victoria, B.C.
"Cynthia and I recently attended your LifePilot Workshop and were very impressed by the philosophies and approach that form the foundation of your program. Having known you for so many years I am well aware that you live your life in accordance with the principles that you teach in the LifePilot Workshop. As a Professor in the business faculty at the University of Victoria I believe that everyone from university students to seasoned business people should have the opportunity to participate in this valuable program, because it seamlessly integrates a persons value's with the time choices.
Please let me know if there is anything I may do to encourage or support this valuable program. I recommend it highly."
David H. Turpin President and Chancellor, University of Victoria, Victoria, B.C.
"I wanted to convey my personal congratulations for your role in launching the new peer mentoring project at the University of Victoria. Your stewardship of this leading edge program will help many students focus on future directions within our business community. U Vic is pleased and honored to be part of this project.
Thank you for your hard work and dedication on behalf of a very worthy project and for all the support you have shown U Vic over the years."

"LifePilot was well worth the time. In a few short hours you can really focus & plan for what's really important in your life. This is the strategic plan for your life. We've already started putting into place our LifePilot plan."
Bob Bennett Young Entrepreneurs Organization member President, First Lexington Corporation, Dallas, Texas
"When I first met Peter he was excited about his master book that was a plan for his life. He was a fanatic about how this book and plan could fulfill one's desires in life. Who would imagine you could actually get your hands on a copy and have him teach you to use it. Fantastic.

"Few individuals have the life experience and ability to truly touch those seeking something more than themselves and from life. Peter Thomas is one of these people and LifePilot can change lives."
Terry Coughlin North American Development Group, Palm Beach, FL
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Peter and the LifePilot Workshop personnel for the inspiring presentation we received.
I am 64. I took Dale Carnegie\'s \"How to Win Friends and Influence People\" when I was 15, and started my career in direct sales at 19. Each morning, for years, I listened to Earl Nightingale\'s \"Strangest Secret\" and read other inspirational books like Napoleon Hill\'s \"Think and Grow Rich\". I engaged in Real Estate sales at 21 and at 25 started my own development company. I made it and lost it three times over 20 years until I joined our group in 1983 and began a slower but surer climb to the top.
I thought I had heard it all, but at the conclusion of Peter\'s talk I realized I had experienced an epiphany. I have always avoided planning my every moment as I have a predeliction toward spontaneity. I embrace surprises. I will plan for some specific goal but enjoy freewheeling. Once Peter went through the order of values, goals, visualization and PLANNING, I got it. No ground-breaking idea in itself, but in the context of a progression, I realized it to be, not only a necessary component, but, one which I utilize daily but never gave credit to.
To help other skeptics like (the former) me, I offer the following example which I pass along to Peter if it works for him.
You want to go to Grandma\'s house.
Grandma is a value to you so you set a goal to visit her.
If asked \"How do you get to Grandma\'s house?\" you would say, \"Turn left out of the driveway, go to the corner, turn right. Go three blocks to the freeway. Take the third exit, go through four stoplights and turn right and you\'re there!\" Well, you\'ve just visualized it. Now you PLAN to go there. You confirm you have gas, mirrors set, and you begin to drive. You are, gulp!, PLANNING the trip. Oops, there\'s a stalled car in front of you. Do you say \"I guess I can\'t get to Grandma\'s\" and turn around? No you PLAN a way to get around the obstacle. You check for pedestrians and bicycles. You check your mirrors for approaching cars. Then you edge around the stalled car and continue on your way. (If you really want to multi-task your values you might even stop at the stalled car and ask if you can be of any assistance) Soon you arrive at Grandma\'s as PLANNED.
Now, let\'s try it without planning. As you leave your driveway you put on a blindfold. Now what are the chances you will get to Grandma\'s? Maybe, if your visualization is good, you could make it to the first turn, but after that your odds decline exponentially. The benefits of planning suddenly manifest themselves.
I have come to realize that planning and writing down a list is a contract you make with yourself.
If you are feeling \"listless\" it\'s probably because you don\'t have a list!
Again, thanks for the inspiration and direction. I am already implementing it into my daily life.

"Again, I would like to thank you for introducing me to the Life Pilot Program. I have been exposed to many goal setting programs, but LifePilot is extraordinary. When you establish your values and align goals to the values, you have created a formula of overall compatibility with the resultant factor equaling an enduring success. Peter, best wishes to you and your organization. May you have many more successes!"
Dr. Steven Funk
Interviewed May 27, 2005
Dr. Steven Funk started out with plans for a career in oral surgery. He had studied dentistry at the University of Iowa in his home state, and then moved to Vancouver for his residency. Why did he choose Vancouver? "I picked out of a National Geographic magazine," he laughs.
This begs the question, why oral surgery? Was it also in a magazine? "I remember jumping up and down on the bed when I was a little kid," he says. "My Dad was there and he was asking,'What are you going to be when you grow up?' I'd say,'Dad, I'm going to be a farmer' - because he was a farmer. I remember him saying,'You don't want to be a farmer. Go be a doctor.'"
Steven tried to find something that truly appealed to him about his career choice, but his heart wasn't in it. "I remember being very inspired by one of my great friends in dental school, Doug Hutchison. I returned to Iowa for Christmas one year from Vancouver, and Doug and I were sitting in front of the fireplace when he said, out of nowhere, "I really hate this - Yeah, I can't wait until I retire."
I said to him, "You know, it's funny, I don't like it either." The thought of an Iowa farm boy, with a love of the outdoors, spending all of his life cooped up in an office was almost unbearable, says Steven. "If you grow up on a farm, your life is freelance," he says. "If I went into oral surgery, I knew how I'd spend all of my days. I'd work 9 to 5 and spend scheduled time playing golf."
Uncertain about the future, Steven returned to Vancouver where he was living in a 600-square-foot apartment at the top of a house owned by a "real estate guy."
"He had a party and Peter's partner [Nelson Skalbania] was there," Steven recalls. We started talking and I told him I was born on a farm and found my career choice constraining. He told me to stay in touch. I thought,'Yeah, it's likely just cocktail party talk.' Then I called him and I went to his office. We went into his boardroom. He said,'How much do you want to be paid?' I said,'It doesn't matter.' I didn't know about these things. He asked again. I said much the same thing. He asked again and I had no idea what to say. I pulled the figure $3500 out of the air. He said,'I'll give you $4500' and that was when I started working for Peter Thomas and Nelson Skalbania.
"I remember meeting Peter and driving around in one of his cars, and I knew that there was something about this guy - that if he didn't want me around I was going to be very disappointed."
As it turns out, Steven didn't have to worry. One moment he was a resident in oral surgery, the next he was working for two fast-moving entrepreneurs whose entire approach to life was full of enthusiasm - and anything but 9 to 5.
"Those guys were amazing. I like to say I took my MBA and PhD with those guys," says Steven. "At first, I was just a Joe boy, really, and often in very over my head. These guys would just turn me loose. Peter will tell you how in my first month - because I had some experience with farming and land - I tied up a property and someone gave us a million more than we paid it for. Peter gave me accolades for that."
The experience Steven gained with Peter and Nelson was invaluable, he says. He particularly credits the time he spent with Peter to helping him shape his future. "I probably ran around the six-mile sea wall in Vancouver with him in the coldest months of the year and the most beautiful. When you do that many times you get to be close friends and know each other well. Talking with him is motivational."
"The darndest thing is watching Peter run," Steven laughs. "He's what you'd call a 'thud runner'! It's the most awkward thing."
Steven recalls Peter's "fantastic" ability to organize great events, such as car rallies and parachute jumps.
"I jumped out of an airplane with him," Steven says, "and I probably ran with him through the demise of his business, the loss of his money, meeting his wife Rita, and so on - I worked for Peter and Nelson up until [Nelson's bankruptcy] and I was the last guy left in their office."
"The most important experience I gained from [working with them] was the day it was over. It just came to an end. I was broke - I was a minority partner of theirs and my personal guarantee wasn't on anything so the creditors never came after me - I was simply flat broke with small kids and I had one credit card to my name. I flew to Hong Kong and borrowed $30,000 from a small group of friends and that's how I started my life over. I had so much fun with those guys, and when I lost it all it was a major wake up call. Seriously."
Steven didn't see Peter much for a number of years, although he kept apprised of Peter's activities. "Later, we did a deal together in Westover Hills in San Antonio, and I was also involved in the Nylons. I certainly knew about Todd Thomas and watched Peter go through the backside of that."
When he finally saw Peter deliver a LifePilot workshop at the WPO Global Leadership Conference, he wasn't surprised to find Peter's contagious enthusiasm was still present. Steven was so impressed that he began organizing a LifePilot seminar for San Francisco.
"From beginning to end, the LifePilot workshop spoke to you and made you laugh and cry," he says. "Peter is open, sincere and forthright. I admire his transparency today even more as someone who worked around him. Peter Thomas has had an effect on my life. He's walked the talk for pretty much as long as I've known him."
"Peter is a ten out of ten speaker and he lives a life that is motivational. When people sit in that [LifePilot seminar] they will see him pull out a tape measure and say,'How old are you?' Then he'll point to the tape measure and say,'Here's your life expectancy.' That's very powerful."
Steven says one of the things he admires about Peter is his wholeness. "I'm not going to separate Peter in business from Peter socially - he's a phenomenal salesman, full of positive energy. I've always seen Peter as very family oriented, whether it was moving to Victoria because it was a better place to raise his kids, or being supportive of his daughter and having her work with him. He gets up every day thinking about how he can make the world better."
"Peter's a great deal maker," Steven continues. "He could be doing that and making lots of money on a daily basis. Whatever he does gets lots of attention, and right now he's devoting himself to LifePilot. He's doing and giving presentations and giving away the proceeds of the presentations and aiming them back at mental health and children. That's admirable."
During the years since he worked for Peter, Steven went on to become founder and Chairman of Grand Marais Investments Ltd. In 1992, Grand Marais led the formation of CML Global Capital Ltd. which controls Aspen Properties Ltd. and Imperial Parking (Hong Kong) Ltd. Steven serves as Chairman of CML, Aspen Properties Ltd. and Imperial Parking.
Over the years, Steven has gained considerable experience in international private equity investment, including a number of mergers and acquisitions. He has directed well over 100 significant investments, financings, mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships. He has lived and worked in Vancouver, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Boston, San Francisco, and Calgary, where he now lives with his family. He has overseen undertakings that range to the construction of the largest underground parking structure in Shanghai, to the development of the largest fund management group in its category in Canada, to the building of the largest car park management business in Canada and 4th largest in North America, to the more recent founding and growth of Aspen Properties Ltd., now one of the most respected new substantial real estate concerns in Canada. Steven also oversees nearly 100,000 acres of precious sustainable development and environmental custodianship in the rainforest of Belize. He owns agricultural farmland in conjunction with his family in his home state of Iowa.
As part of his philosophy of giving something back to society, Steven is a director with Unitus, a computer system dedicated to education through electronic communication. He is proud of the Dignity Fund for Microfinance that Unitus recently launched to help provide constructive solutions to global poverty.
Steven is also a founder and officer of the President's Peace Action Network chapter of the World Presidents' Organization (WPO). The Peace Action Network is a passion of Steven's that had its roots in the influence of his father. He is a founding sponsor of the Red Cross Sheldon Kennedy Foundation for Abused Children, an active participant in the Prince of Wales Foundation and the Hoover Institute, and a former director of the Canada China Business Council and Canadian Council for Unity.
Aside from his professional and charitable pursuits, Steven is a pilot, an avid snow and water skier, a fitness advocate - and he's learning to play the piano. His passion is to make a positive difference in the world in everything he does.
"I remember my father chastising me for using too much toilet paper because we were so poor," Steven recalls, "yet I never remember him turning down offering a helping hand to anyone. It was really a great way to grow up."
Steven says what he learned at the LifePilot seminar is only an extension of all the lessons he's learned from Peter over the years. "What I learned from Peter was the importance of having a focus, picking my goal and keeping goal oriented. I probably got this from the 100 or so times I ran around Stanley Park with Peter. Be goal oriented, write it down, set it out - that's what Peter's all about. What do I want to add to my list of'been there, done that? Do I want to play piano? Do I want to fly a plane? Go to France?"
What's the secret of success for Steven? "One hundred percent of the successful people I know understand how to pick a focus and take the noise out of life. If you can accomplish that with strong values, the better off you are."

Hello Peter,
It was really a pleasure to met Rita and you, and for us being part of your LifePilot Workshop last February.
My Wife and I have been working on our goals for the last 6 years and even though we have accomplished most of them, somehow something was missing. After reading your book, together as a couple, and participating personally in the workshop, all the missing parts fell together in our minds.
Now, we align both of our personal values and we did put together what we call our “Family Life Manual”. Our kids are participating in it too!!, even though they are very young.
Following our “Life Manual”, automatically the balance starts to improve in our lives. In the last couple weeks we have been able to take tough decisions fast and “without remorse” following your steps and mainly our values.
We honestly think that starting 2007, thanks to you and your team, we are building a new and better future as a family.
Thank you again and congratulations for teaching many people how easy it is to BE HAPPY & SUCCESSFUL!!!
We can’t wait to share this with our loved ones (family and friends).
Very Best Regards,
Sincerely,

Thank you for one of the most inspiring moments of my life. When Peter Thomas visited our company for his Lifepilot Workshop, the whole atmosphere changed within seconds. Peter is such a wonderful presenter. Sharing his ideas with us and giving us examples for ways to integrate the "broader look" into life was an absolutely incredible experience. Our whole team participated at his workshop and every single one felt a little more familiar than before. Like a flow we felt motivation running trough our minds and inspiring us to take our life in our own hands. Before the training some of my employees were sceptical and cautious, because they had no idea what would happen during the workshop. Also the Management was afraid, that one or the other employee would quit working for our company after this kind of experience and start going his/her own way. But nether one concern happened. Our whole team was absolutely enthusiastic. I can advice every entrepreneur to book Peter Thomas for his company.
It is a life changing experience for each individual and for your companies benefit.

The word “REALIZATION” prevailed when I attended Peter’s LifePilot Seminar On March 22nd, 2007 during the Families in Business Meeting at the Ritz Carlton Bahrain. The REALIZATIONS during and after the seminar left me with an UNDERSTANDING of the values one should lead for himself and his loved ones in life. To be CONSCIOUS about what is important and what is less important in life. To be AWARE of your surroundings. To RECOGNIZE your attributes and successes. To have an INSIGHT for your future. To GRASP your life and to CONTROL your destiny’s happiness. To acquire FULFILLMENT and a sense of ACHEIVEMENT in everything you do. To PUT FIRST your VALUES and to WALK your own steps in the LIFE you are leading for yourself contently, progressively and with great self respect, admiration and positive impulse.
Peter made me realize that I am part of a bigger, much larger picture than the one I thought I was part of. He made me realize that the sky is the absolute limit to what I could do in life. YET, the catch was to still lead a happy and positive life for yourself and your loved ones in the process of attaining your successes on personal and professional levels.
When I loose a business deal or a pet or anything of materialistic or emotional value, I know the feeling of sadness and other unpleasant feelings that follow. When you loose a son, how can you put words to the feelings that follow? For Peter to be positively driven by his beloved son’s tragic loss was a miraculous, precious, noble and totally unprecedented gesture that gave the true meaning to the words SACRIFICE, LOVE, COMMITMENT, HEALING and most importantly LIVING.
It’s amazing how much you realize what you have never realized when you attend one of Peter’s seminars. His life experiences are stories you thought you would read in a best selling book categorized under fiction! Yet, when you hear them come out of Peter’s mouth, you get caught in the holes of your own realms and you get lost in your depths trying to make sense of the life you have left behind and the life you are so looking forward to lead.
I could sit and write a thesis about Peter and his LifePilot program. I am as cynical as cynicism could be. This seminar was GENUINE. It was TRUE and if you open your mind just a little to perceive half of what Peter has to say, you would benefit yourself more than you have ever dreamt. It is the real stuff. The stuff that gives true meaning to the life you live. It is what matters the most.
We live so long and then we die. We take nothing with us but the memories we have left behind. It is all about how happy we lived and how many people we have touched in the process.
I don’t want to sound like I am selling Peter and LifePilot. I want you to REALIZE that I am a humanitarian who loves life and the people living in it. Accordingly, I will gratefully, graciously and with great honor suggest that you jump in a helicopter, monitor the gages very closely, avoid the clouds, do not go faster than 87 and when you get to your destination: “a LifePilot Seminar near you,” ENJOY!
Only then you would REALIZE whether you applying AMC’s in your life, what your MITs are and whether you are eliminating your FUDs . . . My life has taken a new course. My outlook is refreshed and my love for life has never been the same as it is and it will be from now till eternity.
I therefore send all my appreciation to TODD THOMAS whose passing away gave birth to an inspirational program that gave reason for many people to LIVE and live a better LIFE!

"I read LifeManual over the holidays. To be candid, as a veteran entrepreneur who is independent, in a wonderful relationship and generally content with my life I anticipated the book would be an interesting read, but that's about it. Instead, Life Manual has re-invigorated me. The book reminded me to maintain focus and use visualization which served me well over my career. But, more importantly, identifying and aligning values with personal choices and goals has made me re-think a number of things about my life. Simply put, I'm more "on track" than I was prior to reading LifeManual."

Peter,
I just wanted to let you know that your 4 hour session felt like 10 minutes. Everyone was totally involved. Many thanked me because this type of session \"showed that I cared about the lives and values of my partners and senior management.\" The response from all 33 attendees couldn\'t have been more positive. You are really doing something that matters and that\'s meaningful. Keep it going!

"The Lifepilot program that we had on November 15th, 2005 was a huge success. To date it was the largest attended, educational event that YPO Costal Chapter has hosted in the 2005 - 2006 calendar year.
The feedback continues to roll in that the event was powerful and thought provoking. Seeing a room of full of YPO members and knowing the positions in life that each member has achieved is powerful; however, combining the Lifepilot workshops/exercises with these sorts of people was intense.
I found it very interesting that everybody was able to take home some part of the Lifepilot program and incorporate it into their lives. We all have achieved certain goals and objectives but not many of us manage our daily lives in perfect balance with business, family, and values. Many of us get caught up in “the work life” that our personal life is neglected. As a father of four children and a wife of 15 years I can state emphatically that Lifepilot has made me a better Father, Husband, and Employer.
The self discovery and continued coaching process has me on track to living a much more fulfilled life. I am looking forward to putting my “working family” through the program and see the positive changes it makes in their lives as well as track that to the business bottom line.
Peter, we can’t thank you more for Lifepilot and look forward to our next meeting. Until then I have my values set, I focus and visualize, think of my inspirations and reflect on what is important and how I got here."
Brian Scudamore Young Presidents Organization Member Chairman, 1-800GOTJUNK.com
"LifePilot has had a profound impact on my personal life. I have always had a crystal clear company vision along with a set of shared company values - but I’ve neglected to vision out my personal life until now. LifePilot led and inspired me to create a personal vision based on my core personal values. I now have a clear ‘painted picture’ of the life I am going to make happen.
Peter, thank you for the incredible program you have created -- What a difference you have made in my life!"
Winston Siu Event Chair, Hong Kong
"Thank you once again for coming to Hong Kong to conduct the LifePilot Workshop for us. We received lots of comments on how great the workshop was and how useful it was to attendees.
On behalf of all the participants, I would like to thank you for the magnificent workshop. It has made all of us understand one’s value and re-evaluate our next steps in life. Your Workshop provided a very good structure for future life planning and to identify the value of life we want, we need and we choose. It was really a timely event for reflecting our life values and prospects. We endorse and welcome more LifePilot events in WPO, YPO and EO.
Thank you again for sharing your time and experience with us. We look forward to meeting you again in the near future.
It will be my pleasure to be a reference to any enquiries you may have in the future."
Bill Swinimer World Presidents Organization member Chairman and CEO, PCL Packaging Corp, Toronto, Ontario
"Recently I began to reflect on my past and realize much of my life has been driven by my companies’ success and my need to give it all my attention. I have been very seriously thinking about how to take charge of my life and accomplish/realize my future goals and dreams... Your LifePilot program has given me both the tools and the motivation to take charge and set my future life course. I felt so good about what I described to my wife as a "Life Altering" experience with LifePilot that I convinced my whole family to attend a future presentation!"
John Teeger World Presidents Organization member Founders Equity Inc., New York, NY
"On behalf of the WPO Metro Chapter, which is the largest Chapter in WPO and comprises members in the Greater New York area, I want to thank you personally for the excellent Lifepilot presentation that you provided us on November 17. As reflected in the 10 out of 10 ratings, our members came away from the session with a very positive view of the presentation, and the significant take-home value that it created. While the subject matter on its face is straight forward, the format that you have created is novel, unique and compelling. I fully believe that those of us who think seriously through the questions raised about matching lifestyles with values, and who revisit these thoughts
regularly by using the handbook you provided, will benefit from a clear roadmap to maximizing their time on this earth. I feel very good about recommending and participating as Day Chairman for the program to our Chapter. Keep up your good work in making us think and act seriously in our day to day lives."
Joel Tranmer World Presidents Organization member, Napa, California
"Kathy & I chaired the WPO San Francisco University, this past September, and we enjoyed every minute of it. The academy in Yosemite was terrific, the social events were tons of fun, the off-sites interesting and the education program was rated very high by those who attended.
One of the highlights of the week was the Life Pilot program invented and presented by WPOer Peter Thomas. He held two sessions that attracted overflow crowds and he walked away with the highest ratings of the University. Life Pilot provides a system and a discipline where each of us can discover what we value and what we are passionate about. It then teaches how to develop a framework for life, built around our values and passions, that will help us fulfill our dreams.
Life Pilot has dramatically changed the way I look at life. I am thinking about how I spend my time and only doing those things that have meaning for me. I am truly excited about the next phase of my life."
Bill Trimble Founding President of Young Entrepreneurs Organization President, 98 Corporate Group Resources Ltd., Vancouver, B.C.
"I found [LifePilot] to be an excellent program as it provided some wonderful tools for living a more effective, balanced and rewarding life. I would highly recommend this to everyone and in fact I have just enrolled both my Wife and Executive Assistant to attend the next Vancouver date."

"On behalf of the Alberta Chapter of YPO, I want to extend our appreciation to Peter and Rita Thomas for bringing LifePilot to our 2006 retreat. Members found the program to be thought provoking and entertaining. The presentation was well paced and educational. The binder and book allow for great takeaway value. And the ongoing access to the LifeManual online is certainly appreciated. The program should bring some discipline to the process of life balance for many of our members."

"On behalf of all the participants I would like to thank you very much for the magnificent workshop you presented to our chapter. It has made all of us rethink our lifestyles and take action to improve our lives, even though they are, generally speaking, in pretty good shape.
Your enthusiasm and passion for the workshop made it one of the best events our chapter has held since inception. In fact there has been a suggestion that we have a follow up next year." (LifePilot workshop 17 May 2005 in London)
Brian R. Zipp World Presidents Organization member Partner, Tower Capital Inc., New York, NY
"Thank you for the energized and inspiring experience at your NY WPO workshop yesterday. The LifePilot approach and tools are empowering for anyone interested in taking charge of their life's journey. I am now more excited than ever about the adventures ahead. Thanks for sharing your gift."

“Today opened my eyes to all the possibilities that are available to me in my life. I have gained a great understanding of how my values play a major role in what I can become.”
Peter Casson World Presidents Organization member P & C General Contracting, Ltd., Markham, Ontario
"It took until last weekend for me to sit down and go over my notes and your book in detail. As soon as I started, I realized that this is the "time and activity" organizer that I have needed for a long time. Having made my first attempt to prioritize my activities against my "values", I find that I am much busier, accomplishing more and feeling better about myself."
Michael R. Ellison CEO, TRIVITA, Inc., Scottsdale, Arizona
"Having Peter Thomas present LifePilot was an honor and truly a life-changing experience for our executive team. This is a team that has worked very hard over the past 4 years to launch a great company. But on this day with Peter, they turned towards themselves and sought to implement the LifePilot program for personal development and fulfillment. Now, the discussions at our meetings concern not only the care of customers, but also the specific values and goals that impacted each member of our team personally. After spending time with Peter and taking the LifePilot program, I believe no matter what stage a person may be in their life, LifePilot offers a reward of sgnificant meaning and life enhancement. Perhaps the greatest testimony of the lasting value of LifePilot is Peter himself. After dealing with the horrific loss of his son, he took his own personal program and developed a guide now known as LifePilot to help thousands of others live a balanced and fulfilled life. Peter, thank you for being such an inspiration."
Bunny Ferguson Chair, Alberta Business Family Institute, Calgary, Alberta
"On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Alberta Business Family Institute, thank you for agreeing to contribute your time and energy, and most certainly your enthusiasm, Peter to our Speaker Series program at the University of Alberta’s School of Business.
Your LifePilot workshop was so well received by all the business family members in both our major cities, Edmonton and Calgary. So often we concentrate on “the business” that we overlook “the family” and your workshop enabled us to see ourselves as individuals within the family which in turn will benefit the business.
As you paged through your own workbook, Peter with such passion for what you truly believe in, the examples of your own life’s experiences, was a true testimony in itself that LifePilot can work for anyone. You clearly showed the importance of values in ones life and living each day accordingly is a fulfilling and meaningful discovery in itself.
We wish you continued success in the delivery of LifePilot in support of the Todd Thomas Foundation…it is wonderful! You are fantastic!"
Steve Fields VP Portfolio Management, Wells Fargo Bank, Scottsdale, Arizona
“This session was exactly what I hoped for. I now have a format to document my goals and values. By far, the best meeting facility possible for this type of event.”
Lorna Gardner Interior Designer, Vancouver, B.C.
“Loved it – very inspirational and affirming of the value of the individual and our integrity.”
Lakshmi Gulab Young Presidents Organization Spouse, Director, Slink Contemporary Jewellery, London, UK
"The LifePilot workshop was riveting as it was not about learning something new per se but more a remembrance of all those Universal Truths that show you how to be dynamic, successful and righteous human beings.”
Tom Hopkins Master Sales Trainer and Author, Scottsdale, Arizona
"Fasten your seatbelt for take-off! You are in for the ride of your life with you at the controls. I have long been a believer in planning your life and setting goals based on your value system. I have taught those principles myself for years. This exceptional program goes far beyond anything I have ever seen. I only wish this program had been available thirty years ago. I believe its use would have taken me even farther in my life -- faster than I could have imagined."
Bud Kanke World Presidents Organization member President, Kanke Seafood Restaurant Inc., Vancouver, B.C
“Your Life Pilot re -inspired me terrifically. Although I examined annually and wrote Goals each year which were generally balanced under - Family, Spiritual, Business, Investments, Relationships, Health, Personal growth and Creativity they weren't specifically tied to VALUES. … Now the capper of it all is the wonderful package that you've created that is a very practical and workable way to manage one’s Life.”
John Kocela ACS Management Group, Inc., Vancouver, B.C.
“Hi Peter, I wanted to drop a note and thank you again for yesterday. Tracey and I are obsessed with finding ways to get more enjoyment from day-to-day living, while managing the pressures associated with securing our future and that of our children. Unfortunately, it is difficult as busy people to stand outside of ourselves and objectively draw up a set of new rules by which to live - as imperative as we know it is. LifePilot is a major step in that direction and reminded us that we are not alone, after seeing all the good people that attended your workshop. Too often statisticians and governments measure quality of life in terms of things or available services. Aligning core values with our daily actions as a means to eliminate inner-conflict and emotional pain is a unique school of thought and is worthy of becoming an institution. I wish you every success and truly admire your work.”
Patty Lyman Events Manager, Young Entrepreneurs Organization, Virginia
"On behalf of the Young Entrepreneurs’ Organization and the YEO Switzerland University attendees, thank you for speaking at our program in Switzerland.
YEO/WEO prides itself on providing learning opportunities that enable our members to receive and take home new knowledge that can be utilized right away to contribute to the growth and success of their business and personal lives. With your participation in this University, we met that goal.
Your LifePilot Workshop has gained such great recognition from our members, that we had a challenge keeping the numbers low and managing the sign-up process. Thank you for agreeing to allow a few more participants in to enjoy your workshop. I hope that wasn’t too much of a problem.
Again, thank you for agreeing to share your knowledge and be with us. I hope that you were also able to enjoy yourself a little bit in beautiful St. Moritz and Switzerland."
Shannon May Executive Assistant, Vancouver, B.C.
"Hi Peter. I just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know I thoroughly enjoyed the LifePilot Workshop yesterday. I had several "awakenings" while listening to you and gaining an understanding for what Life Pilot is all about. Its funny because as we go through our life we all have our values and the code of ethics that we live by but we don't consciously look at them every day and see how they pertain to every thing that we do. If nothing else, LifePilot gives you that strong awareness and that alone is a priceless tool.
I have so much in my life to be grateful for and even though I know this,
yesterday brought it to the forefront for me and I woke up this morning thinking, "today I am going to have a wonderful day and I am so very blessed for all that I have". Thank you again for everything yesterday and have a wonderful day today."
Alin Merches Entrepreneur and Business Owners, Oradea, Romania
"Peter truly inspired me with it's book. I received the most benefit when I've read the chapters about Peter's concepts, the lessons about learning from your mistakes and how to live a life which is worth living. He teaches you that even if you're losing everything, you can always start again. All you need to do is tap into the powerful motivation which comes from inside of ourselves. I'm proud to have Peter's book in my collection."
Alfredo J. Molina Young Entrepreneurs Organization member and CEO, Molina Fine Jewelers, Phoenix, Arizona
"Your passion and professional dynamism not only enthused and excited us, but prompted us all to seriously
evaluate our ultimate desires in life and how we might manifest them to our greatest benefit. Your positivism and your
inextinguishable determination are lessons for us all."
Dick Simmonds LLB Lawyer, Vancouver, B.C.
"You can get to a stage in life where you just keep going along the same path, your comfort zone. You don't stop to reassess your situation. This program encourages you to take stock of your VALUES and make sure that you are not only living by theme, but that you are programming yourself so that your GOALS are in line with your VALUES in order to achieve a truly full and energetic life. No matter how successful you are, it is crucial to re-evaluate and check up on your progress. Lifepilot is a great process to do just that."
Murray Smith Co-Founder One Coach
"I wanted to let you know that I have read your book LifeManual and absolutely loved it.
It’s filled with so much great information I have already gone back and re-read a number of the stories. It will be a guide for so many decision that I make throughout my life.
As I’ve said to so many people, challenges in life happen directly because of what we don’t know. LifeManual has already made me aware of several of those challenges that I would have certainly had to learn the hard way and know I will be better prepared to deal with them.
Thank you so much for my LifeManual."
Laura Stansberry VP Wealth Management Specialist, Wells Fargo, Scottsdale, Arizona
“Excellent preparation presented with passion, integrity and enthusiasm! I would recommend to anyone interested in improving their well being and their life.”

Tom & Renée Burzuk
Tom and Renée Burzuk met in December 2001 and married nine months later in October 2002 in beautiful Kelowna, British Columbia, in the church where Renée grew up. They have been joyfully learning together how to best co-pilot this journey of life.
Searching for Bearings
Their journey began in Montréal, Canada. Soon thereafter, both of them had read several books in the Rich Dad Poor Dad series by Robert Kyosaki. These books gave them a new outlook on life. They realized that their previous notions of job security were false, and they searched for new direction. Renée accepted a job in Kelowna, the catalyst that brought them home, something for which they longed. Tom left his management job with a major national airline. Together, they decided they would take the entrepreneurial path and start their own business.
They read several leadership books. The common lessons were the importance of writing goals and finding mentors. The big question they were left with was, "How?"
Renée is a planner and very organized. She had written goals before, especially during university, and saw positive results. Tom, on the other hand, is spontaneous and had more of a short-term focus, which had been successful for him to that point in his life. Now, both Tom and Renée felt a lack of direction.
Peter and Rita Thomas introduced Tom and Renée to LifePilot. On January 25, 2004, their pre-flight training began. It is best described in their own words:
Pre-Flight Training
The LifePilot seminar gave us the answers we were looking for. We were impressed with the positive and professional presentation, and most of all, with the methodology that LifePilot provides. We immediately bought into the idea of defining our core values first - brilliant!
We worked independently on writing our values and goals. After comparing notes, we were happy to realize that our values are similar - a good thing since we will be spending the rest of our lives together! Combined, our values are freedom, generosity, happiness, health, relationships, and faith. We then wrote our financial goals together as that was something we knew we would have to work on together.
We Have Lift-Off
Once our LifePilot manuals were complete, we were ready for take-off. We followed the methodology we learned by reviewing our LifePilots regularly. Tom framed his goals and displayed them in our home office as a more constant reminder. We also talked about our goals with others. We feel that sharing our goals is important. You never know who and when someone is willing to help accelerate you towards achieving your goals.
Over the next year, we saw great results. Within two months of completing the LifePilot seminar, Tom secured two consulting contracts. Shortly thereafter, we started Integrus Management Corporation, thus achieving our goal of owning our own business and in less time than expected. Integrus specializes in operational and corporate financial consulting services. We chose the name because it is a play on the word integrity - a word we feel encompasses many of our core values.
Shortly after purchasing a duplex, we enhanced our investment to maximize our rental income. About a year after our LifePilot training, we purchased a condo, a goal we had set to seek additional investment properties. A few short months ago, we also invested in a development project; something that seemed out of reach only months earlier. And finally, we acquired an ownership position in a rapidly growing information technology company, Browen I.T. Solutions Inc. (www.browenit.com), which specializes in corporate computer security.
All of these ventures helped and continue to help us to achieve our goals of financial freedom. The amazing thing is that these opportunities just seemed to appear out of nowhere. For Tom, his spontaneity is now realized in what might come next, as opposed to a laisser-faire approach to planning. A statement that was made during the seminar rings true: "When you write your goals down, things just happen." Alternatively, as Bill Rancic eloquently stated: "Success comes down not only to meeting the challenges we set for ourselves, but in thinking to set them in the first place."
We believe that one of the main reasons we have reaped success is because we have sown generosity. We both feel that it is important to give our time and donate money to others. The age-old statement rings true: It is in giving that we receive. Tom serves on the board of directors for Freedom's Door, which operates Christian recovery homes for addicted men in Kelowna (www.freedomsdoorkelowna.com), and is the Executive Director for the Felson Foundation, a Christian organization that desires to help the less fortunate around the world. Renée serves on the secretariat for the Kelowna Cursillo Movement, a church organization, and enjoys cooking for her friends with newborn babies. This work is a truly rewarding experience for us and brings joy to our lives. We have learned that when you give, your hand is open to receive.
We also find joy in our faith in God. We both meet weekly with our Christian friends to discuss our faith journey - another important goal. We recently started reading a devotional together before going to work. We still have some faith goals on which we need to work. However, we are further ahead than we would have been had we not set goals.
Turbulence
In pursuit of our financial goals, we found ourselves working more and more. Before we knew it, we were no longer reading our LifePilot manuals weekly. Naturally, we hit some turbulence and got off course. As a result, some of our goals did not receive the attention they deserved.
Over time, we felt frustrated, stressed and not as happy as we would like to be. Why? Because we were not living according to all of our values. In fact, we realized that living a healthy lifestyle and spending time with family and friends is even more important than financial freedom. We also learned that some of our goals were not realistic; we had too many goals for certain values. An additional resource, a book by John C. Maxwell entitled Today Matters, helped us realign our goals and bring balance back to the equation.
We have learned that accountability is a key concept. Coincidently, around the time we considered writing this article, Tom started going to the gym again. Suddenly, he was motivated because he was being held accountable. In addition, we committed to weekends away with our parents.
Journey to the Horizon
We are grateful for LifePilot, especially grateful that we were introduced to it at such a young age. The future is bright. As we co-pilot this journey, we look forward to learning and growing together as we live according to our values.
We wish to thank Peter and Rita for their great example and their motivation to embrace life and live it to the fullest. Most of all, we thank our Lord. He is the source of all of our blessings - past, present, and future.

Mr. Peter Thomas,
I just wanted to commend you on such an amazing speech you presented at the McCormick Center. What really impressed me was not how wealthy you became or how successful your businesses were, but how you spoke of your values and how you integrated them into your life and business. After hearing your speech, I realized that my goals were monetary and not of much substance. I now am realigning my goals and centering them around how I can help improve the lives of others. I hope to keep in contact with you throughout my journey of creating my own financial firm and improving others\' financial position and lives. I can only hope to one day touch as many lives as you have.
Thank you for inspiring me,
Drew Lewis

As a personal coach and entrepreneur I am constantly on the lookout for successful people to study, mentors to impart valuable knowledge and proven principles that get results, both for me and my clients.
To me reading is a gift where I can learn from the authors. Personally I have a library of more than 700 books and growing.
I could not wait to start reading LifeManual after hearing Peter Thomas speak last week. The author is best known for building a huge company and walking away with millions, but it is not his wealth that attracts me.
As you step inside this book it is immediately apparent that the author is bearing his soul, sharing his own personal life manual, principles that guided him to some of the biggest wins imaginable and through the tragic loss of his son.
Through an organization called LifePilot, I discovered that the writer is committed to giving back to society, to empowering people to align their lives, careers and decisions to the things they value most in life, ensuring a higher level of happiness and life satisfaction.
As North Americans, we enjoy the greatest abundance in the world yet why is there so much dissatisfaction and unhappiness? Our worlds are getting busier and busier and so many things are competing for our precious time. Why is there such a high level of career dissatisfaction? Why are marriages, relationships and families failing? Do you have to give up your family to have success? Is money everything?
I truly believe that your best investment is in yourself and LifeManual will help you to determine and align with what is most important to you.
Please allow me to make a recommendation - read this book!

"It's challenging to look back on my life and specifically pinpoint the moments and experiences that fundamentally changed who I was as a human being, and as an evolving soul. We’re all born into unique situations and we all transform, to some degree, from who we think we should be to who we are destined to become. This testimonial is about just such a change. At one point my experience of life was far different than it is today. Today I enjoy a mutually respectful, deeply loving relationship with a man, a soul-mate, who encourages and supports the fulfillment of my dreams. I have a wonderful, entertaining, insightful son who melts my heart and relentlessly challenges my expectations of life. Today I paint! I create with a passion I once feared. Today I am sober, and treat my body and soul with respect and dignity. I live in Mexico, am learning Spanish, and dream of all the possibilities the future holds. My life was not always this fulfilling and ripe with potential; in fact for many years it was far darker. And while it is impossible to point to any one single event, or series of events, and give that experience credit for the entire transition, there are pivotal experiences, and moments of clarity, that I know in my heart contributed in a meaningful way towards my change. Meeting Peter Thomas and subsequently participating in his LifePilot program was one of those critical “coincidences” that ultimately reoriented me down a different, more rewarding path.
Like many, my childhood and adolescence were littered with enough dysfunction and chaos to keep a bevy of counselors employed indefinitely. Life challenges were inevitable. At the age of nine I effectively lost my parents to divorce, resulting in the loss of all discipline and structure in my life. I graduated high school with below average marks because I refused to apply myself and partying became the center of my life.
At the age of 19 a moment of clarity provided me with the courage to enroll in business school. I had seen myself in a boardroom leading what seemed like an important discussion. I thought “how am I going to get from here to there?” At that moment I felt inspired, my imagination was alive and I decided I was going to make it happen. I applied the next day and subsequently completed a Business Management and Marketing program with honors, then started studying for my BC securities stockbroker’s license. This led to employment as Director of Investor Relations at Samoth Capital Corporation where I fortuitously met Peter. Over the next five years I watched and learned how Peter became successful by using his now formalized Lifepilot program.
Have you ever had a burning desire to follow your passions and yet somehow found yourself doing everything else but what you desired? Have you ever abandoned your natural talents because it didn’t seem practical or responsible to indulge yourself in pursuing them?
For twenty years I had a desire to paint, but told myself that I couldn’t make a living as an artist. So, like most other responsible women my age, I went to business school instead, and created my own success. I made everyone proud. Everyone but me. Only I knew that my heart was aching to express itself in the form of art.
I am grateful to Peter, who saw my yearning and encouraged me to write down my dreams and goals and then commit to creating them in my life. To begin my artistic journey I took numerous classes and apprenticed with professional artists. In the year 2000 I painted my first “real” painting and upon completion was overwhelmed with gratitude (towards both Peter and me) that I persisted in setting goals and following my desires. As if on queue, when I was ready my teachers presented themselves. Over the years my passion has grown and my talents have unfolded.
In 2003 I was the president of a publicly traded company that my partners and I were actively selling. I was at an important fork in the road; a moment that I sensed would leave me forever changed. It was a question of truth and faith. Did I have the courage and strength to let go of that which was financially rewarding but emotionally empty?
I took the leap of faith. I trusted my heart and intuition and followed my passion; walking away from a world and identity I had spent my life creating, to enter a new, unknown one. My new path left me both humbled and vulnerable, yet somehow more alive and authentic. Friends and family squawked in fear, but I followed my new direction in earnest. My supportive and loving husband pledged to be my first patron and to bring me light during times of shadow and fear. I also enlisted the love and support of a “mastermind group”; a collection of successful women who come together to support each other in creating their dreams.
With my skills, support and commitment I began to follow this road down a newfound path to freedom and passion. I am a different woman today than I was prior to meeting Peter. Today I enjoy a life defined by peace and serenity and I pursue my passion each day with vigor and grace. When I begin a new painting I experience a brief apprehension, but soon enough life’s beauty, love and energy begins to flow through me, leading to inspiration. I experience small miracles with each new day and each new brush stroke.
In high school I remember passing by the art room, looking in and wondering what went on in that mysterious room. I closed myself off to a dream of pursuing the arts, like my grandmother, because at the time I had the limited belief that I could not support myself as an artist. Commercial success is still a desired outcome of my commitment to painting, but the deep sense of joy I receive as a result of following my passion far outweighs the fears I once had that I could never possibly support myself with my art.
Peter taught me the value of defining, and committing to, my dreams. As a result of those insights I now sit in a studio rather than a boardroom. I watch, smell, feel and hear the Pacific Ocean outside my windows in Mexico rather than watch the clouds of November drench Vancouver in liquid sunshine. I study Spanish each day rather than stock trends. My goals and dreams are in alignment with my husband John’s and we look forward to bravely embracing a future that we are actively co-creating.
I have spent the last year of my life living in Puerto Vallarta Mexico painting with passion and faith. I deeply believe that I will attract the teachers, experiences, supporters and customers that are necessary for me to become a world class artist. I am selling my art and my clients feel my passion in my work. I still have fears occasionally raise their heads, but I gently tell them they are unwelcome, an illusion, and untrue. And they listen, and then leave. Peter, and LifePilot, provided me with a framework that helped me create my new reality. What I learned during my life-altering weekend listening to the inaugural LifePilot workshop years ago has provided insight and guidance every since. It changed my life, and could change yours as well if you have the courage and desire to create a more enriching and fulfilling experience of life.”

I have just opened the first Christmas card to arrive in my mailbox this year. As I was reading the family's card, recapping their year, I couldn't help but wonder, "How would their lives be different if they approached living with their values first in mind?" And so I asked myself the same question, and I noticed a smile come across my face. In that moment, holding their card in my hand, I realized that this year I honoured my truth, my values and beliefs more than I ever have my entire life (except perhaps when I was six and finding rocks was very important to me).
I smiled because my heart was happy. These days, I have complete trust that my life is unfolding exactly as it should, because I have opened up to the potential that has always existed within me and I have chosen to live by my values. I have learned to allow my Light to shine.
But things were not always this way. It was ten short months ago when the book LifeManual danced into my life. It was January 31 st, to be exact. My wonderful friend (and now sister-in-law) told me about this new and fantastic book she had been given. She told me how it made such sense, how she felt free and that she now knew exactly what to do. She spoke about the book with such enthusiasm and energy that it was impossible for me not to want to feel the same passion she was expressing. The conversation lasted only a few minutes but within that time I knew I had to connect with this person, this whoever it was that wrote the book. She told me his name was Peter Thomas. It sounded like a nice enough name, but it meant nothing to me. I had no idea who Peter Thomas was or the magnificent business empire he had created. But I knew instantly that I needed to talk with him. I hadn't even set eyes on the book and it was already influencing me.
As fast as I could hang up the phone, I was writing an email to this Peter person, whoever he was. My instinct was so strong that if I even attempted to deny this calling I figured I might implode. It was so very out of character for me, but I just had to do it. Now let's just be clear on who I was ten months ago.
I was a pretty girl. I was smart and for the most part, quiet. I was 27 years old. I owned an interior & etheric design company that ran smoothly and easily, as it had since I founded it in 1998. And for the past 3 years of my life I had also lent my marketing skills to building a company that only half of my heart believed in. I yearned to somehow impact the world in a positive way, but didn't have the guts to step out there and make it happen. I had a wonderful, supportive man in my life and I was engaged to be married and we already owned a home.
To the outside world looking in, my life seemed pretty rosy. After all, I had accomplished so much more than so many young women my age. But in my heart, I knew I was not living my full potential. I knew I had so much more to offer the world than I was currently giving. I felt like I was growing as a person but not at the catapulting level I believed I was capable of. To put it into strange and spiritual words, I felt as though I was not allowing my inner light to shine.
As I began to write that email to Peter, I felt my light beginning to shine. I felt as though it was a perfectly serendipitous moment designed just for me. I poured my heart out in that email, expressing my gratitude for the work Peter was doing, despite the fact that I had never laid eyes on the book yet. It felt like I was being catapulted already and it felt perfect. I clicked Send.
I ordered the book online and then I continued to surf the LifePilot.org website. Eventually I found Peter's biography and began to read. My eyeballs popped out of my head with each new sentence that I read and soon enough I felt my hand raise up to smack myself on the forehead. This Peter Thomas character, as it turns out, was quite the high-profile man. He had accomplished amazing things and had shaped the world of business as we know it today - and I had just written a silly little email message to him! 'What a fool you are!' I thought to myself. My mind started to spin and questions and doubts came faster and faster, 'What kind of a goof writes an email full of 'I know this is meant to be' to a big important, fancy business man?' I imagined him reading the email and laughing at what some silly little girl had written to him, and then promptly hitting the Delete button - but before doing so, he would add my name to his Junk email list. My poor little ego was wounded already. Yet somehow, it still felt right in my heart. And so I waited for a reply.
The next morning I learned two things. First, the heart never lies. And second, Peter Thomas is very quick to respond to email! Through his email response, he helped me to see that it is safe to be me and to express my honest feelings, and act on what is valuable to me. In that moment when I opened his email, I felt such an overwhelming sense of relief and joy that I laughed out loud. Without even knowing it, I had just acted on what I was to learn were my values. How amazing that the message of the LifeManual book was already playing out in my life!
And so it was that on that morning of February 2nd at 7:26 AM that I decided to catapult myself forward by following my heart and my values. A few days later when I finally had the LifeManual book in my hands, this was exactly what Peter was asking us all to do.
LifeManual changed my life without a doubt. It made so much sense as I read it and did the activities - it was like I was remembering something about myself that had long been forgotten. My inner light was beginning to shine and I felt alive. I began telling everyone I knew and loved about this amazing book and I am certain that they began to see a transformation happening in me.
While it may sound ridiculous, I am almost positive that I now have completely different DNA than I did one year ago. I have rewritten my life path, or, rather, I have corrected my life path to allow me to live my full potential.
This year has been a stellar one for me on so many levels, and I have Peter and LifeManual to thank for kick-starting it - and the year isn't even over yet!
I realized my personal values of Pure Love, 6 Senses, Creativity, True Beauty and Grace. And not only did I realize my values, but I began to arrange my life around them, instead of allowing my life to dictate my direction. For the first time ever, I went on a trip, just for me, purely to experience what it would be like to fully immerse myself in my values. I took time to see the beauty in all things. I allowed my heart to open and let Love inside in an even greater capacity. I started to nurture my creativity with writing and I listen to my intuition as my first guide now. I came to know that both Madonna and Winston Churchill sit on my personal board of virtual directors. I married one of the most magnificent and supportive human beings I have even encountered.
I set goals this year that would have been completely inconceivable to me ten short months ago. And not only that, but I have experienced the pleasure of crossing them off my list while singing out loud a resounding, "Done!"
With LifeManual as a starting point, I have found the power within me to catapult myself into the life I always knew I was meant to live. It was the first domino in a series of epic lessons that have reshaped my world. My heart is filled with purpose and Pure Love; and my inner Light is definitely shining!

"On behalf of The Keg Spirit Foundation™, I want to express how pleased we were to sponsor the LifePilot workshop at the University of Victoria on September 12, 2004. We have heard of the workshop’s success through attendees of the program and through the local news media. The enthusiasm of the participants, the mentor relationships that were formed, and the ongoing support of our youth in entrepreneurship is exactly the type of community support we are proud to sponsor. Having taken your workshop myself, I know that your program offers participants an opportunity to examine their values and set a direction for the rest of their lives. What an amazing gift to offer the future leaders of our community! Thank you, Peter, for personally conducting this workshop and giving of yourself to help others."

"After having fallen asleep at the wheel for the last five years of my life, you suddenly woke me up. What have I been missing! In the middle of the seminar, I realized that when I stopped writing down my goals is precisely when things started taking a turn for the worse. It is amazing to me how the simple task of writing these goals down and periodically reviewing them enables one to accomplish them."

"Thank you for the opportunity to enjoy the LifePilot adventure today. I thought the content and delivery of the program was excellent and I am certain that everyone in the room took something valuable away.
I have spent a good part of the last eight months clarifying my values. I have learned this is not an easy task but essential to leading an outstanding life. Getting that first piece right is where all else follows from. I am now clarifying my goals around my values. Your course is a timely framework for articulating and realizing these goals.
I can see that you are passionate about LifePilot, and I believe that along with your mentoring and charitable roles this may be the most powerful and rewarding work of your career. What better way to spend your life than helping others connect with their values and experience their potential. Think about the ripple effect!
I too seek ways to leverage who I am and what I know to help others. As my work becomes more and more grounded in my values I know that I will have an enormous opportunity to support and encourage others. Like you, I believe with the right values, focus and passion - anything is possible.
I am delighted that the proceeds of this successful endeavour will go to the Todd Thomas Foundation. LifePilot will have a real impact on the lives of the many people in our communities suffering from mental illness.
Thanks again Peter, Silken."

"Thank you for the opportunity to reflect on, identify and focus on that which matters to me the most: My values. My strengths. My areas of growth. Identifying goals. The few simple hours over a weekend I spent with you and your LifePilot clearly played a pivotal role in the direction that my life has taken.
Over the 2 years that have followed that course, I've been blessed by a number of wonderful experiences, largely as result of the empowering seeds of ideas planted during your seminar.
Opportunities have come into my life that I recognized as "opportunities" because they touched and connected with my values, strengths, and in some ways even what I perceived as weaknesses. I hope to continue challenging myself to be a better person than I was yesterday, as well as help others to be the best they can be.
I've been able to face many of my fears and overcome those obstacles of, "oh no, I can't do that!" As a result of walking through my fears, I've done a list of things my mind said I couldn’t do: half-marathons and eventually a full marathon; triathlons; climbed the tallest peak outside of the Himalayas, Mt. Aconcagua (almost 23,000 ft.); through a series of 'coincidences," I've become involved with the "Summits of Hope," a charitable organization that raises money for BC Children's Hospital. You can check out my profile (and picture) under "team bios" at their website: http://www.summitsofhope.com. With them, after climbing Mt. Aconcagua, I went on to climb another of the Seven Summits, Mt Elbrus in Russia; the tallest peak in Europe. We hope to climb the tallest peak in Africa this fall: Mt. Kilimanjaro.
I wasn't particularly happy with the work I was doing and felt a lack in my career. By identifying, honoring and respecting my values and strengths, I found the courage to apply for and get a position as a Hospitalist - a physician specializing in acute care medicine at Vancouver General Hospital. I describe this as a dream job to my friends and family, because it is! I find it rewarding, challenging and fulfilling in ways that continue to evolve.
I've only listed a few of the events and experiences. So much more has, and continues to, happen such as: inner joy and happiness; loving, honest and fulfilling relationships; nights of restful sleep; and days of awe and wonder.
I'm grateful to have met you, Peter, and to have participated in LifePilot all because of a simple passing comment by our friend "Chef Mark:" "Hey Kumar, I'm taking this LifePilot course next weekend - interested?"
"I wonder where the next opportunity will come from?"

"My sincere thank you for the “gift” of a LifePilot afternoon. It was an incredible and valuable four hours…we all know many of these values and planning elements. The trick comes when we need to organize and think and visualize all of the components. What you have shared with me is your brilliant blueprint for keeping my life alive, vibrant and purposeful. I am writing this on a post card from Monument Valley. We have just returned from 4 days touring if off road with Navajo friends. Getting time in the back country to hike and think is one of my greatest joys. It appears many times in my book. So immediately after my class I took of for four glorious days with my family to this stunning place. My commitment is to do a trip like this every quarter. Thank you for reminding me of the importance of DOING IT!!! Much love and admiration."
